Shyla Scott, DPT, CLT
(Physical Therapist)
Hello and Welcome! My name is Dr. Shyla Scott, I am a Physical Therapist and Owner of Primetime Physical Therapy. As a former cheerleader and dance team competitor, physical therapy always felt like the perfect career to combine my love for movement and science. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2001 with a BS in Neuroscience and went on to earn my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2005 from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences.
I’ve served my community as a physical therapist for twenty years and have worked in a variety of settings, including hospital, skilled nursing, home health and outpatient clinics. In 2007, while pregnant with my twins, I decided to change my focus to women’s health PT in order to address unresolved pelvic floor issues I was experiencing as my pregnancy progressed. In doing so, I discovered and became fascinated with the “world” of pelvic health physical therapy! By 2008, I became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies, started a Women’s Health physical therapy program and assisted in developing the Lymphedema and Oncology physical therapy programs at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. In 2011, I founded Primetime Physical Therapy alongside my husband Dr. Cory Scott. In 2013, I completed all course work for the Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic Physical Therapy (CAPP) through the American Physical Therapy Association’s Section on Women’s Health.
Since then, I’ve dedicated my practice to evaluating and treating a variety of pelvic related disorders affecting both men and women, incorporating advanced training in a number of functional movement, manual therapy and dry needling techniques to help my patients achieve their fullest recovery. Over the years, I have given a number of talks on the topics of pregnancy and post-partum physical therapy care as well as pelvic floor dysfunction. I’ve also had the privilege of providing training to a number of local pelvic health PT practitioners. My goal is for patients to feel safe and supported as they recover and feel empowered in becoming an active agent of their healing process, not only while working with me, but for many years to follow!
